Rick Sposa, MA, NRP, MICP, is the Director of EMS and Emergency Management for Englewood Health in Bergen County, NJ. There he is responsible for all aspects of the EMS department, a 110 member CAAS Accredited agency located in Bergen County, NJ. The agency provides primary 9-1-1 BLS services to four contracted towns and ALS services to the Northeastern portion of Bergen County from just below the George Washington Bridge to the New York border. He is also responsible for Emergency Preparedness Activities for Englewood Hospital and its associated Physician’s network offices spanning six counties.
He is a past Co-Chair of the Northeast NJ Healthcare Coalition and sits on multiple executive advisory boards throughout NJ addressing both EMS and Emergency Management activities and has given sworn testimony in Congress about the efficacy of Homeland Security Funding in NJ. He is currently the Chair of the UASI EMS Subcommittee, the Vice-President of the New Jersey Association of Paramedic Programs and a board member of Mayday Missions, a not-for-profit charity created to support first responders in need. He received his bachelor’s degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and his master’s degree from Seton Hall University. He has taught as an adjunct professor of Emergency Management in both the Graduate and Undergraduate Programs at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and has spoken at local, state, and national conferences on various topics through the years.
